Elephant Juice Food Company - One Feeds Two

Whilst at Foodies Festival a couple of weeks ago we stumbled upon a talk with ‘street food’ in the title. I’m a sucker for the new kerbside food revolution in Britain and also love the street eats culture in South East Asian countries like Thailand and Vietnam. I’m so pleased that I was drawn in by the tasty title of this talk because we discovered the truly inspirational story of the Elephant Juice Food Company.

JP Campbell, the founder of the company and owner of a vintage van Dumbo 1 which sits in George Square selling the most delicious soups and other hearty home-made fodder, is an excellent public speaker and immediately drew us in to the company's story. Having grown disillusioned with his former career in corporate law JP decided to start selling nutritious, tasty food to passersby and faithful fans who, by buying a porridge pot or speciality soup, could also make a huge difference to people in poverty around the world.
Elephant Juice Food Company is currently partnered with charities that run feeding programmes in countries such as Africa and India in educational settings and, as the company grows, they hope to partner with a wider range of organisations which help people in poverty in the UK and those working to save people at risk from severe malnutrition.

JP delivered his pitch with humility, composure and warmth even whilst whipping up a batch of his speciality leek and baked potato soup. We were not only treated to tasting this yummy concoction but were also given a beetroot soup to try which totally blew my mind! I have always hated beetroot soup (sorry Mum) but this ruby red umami hit in a tiny tub was fantastic.
If you live in Edinburgh please go and visit Dumbo 1 at George Square and, if you don’t, make sure you make a special trip to sample some of its wondrous wares. This is not a sponsored post I just believe in everything the company is trying to achieve and want to help spread the word. You won’t be disappointed with JP’s food and by going along to buy some you’ll be helping to make a significant difference to people in need.

If I lived anywhere near Edinburgh I would definitely sample these wares. If not for the worthy cause and promise of great tasting food, then for the name alone.
