The Last Of The Summer (Mulled) Wine

So this is Christmas (nearly) and what have I done? Well, I went to Malta for a few days to catch the last rays of this year and to attend a very beautiful Maltese wedding. I also made some fabulous new friends, marvelled at a country preparing for Christmas in the blazing sunshine, did a touch of holiday charity shopping and cried at some wedding vows in a church on top of a hill. It could not have been a better pre-Christmas trip!

Malta at once felt very English (almost everyone on the island speaks fluent English), Moroccan, Spanish, Cuban and Italian but with added cultural extras such as strong Roman Catholic tradition and beautiful honey-toned architecture and winding streets. Santas climbed balconies all over the island and nativity scenes adorned roundabouts. It was fascinating to see another country and celebrating Christmas in a similar but also very unfamiliar way to Britain.

Merry Christmas everyone- I hope you have a brilliant time. I can’t wait to get back down South for a Christmas steeped in family fun, tradition and luxurious food!
