Weekending: Autumn Highlights
At the first sign of snow (only a light smattering but enough that I feel vindicated for dressing in all my winter gear. Even the Scots have started doing so in the last two days so it must be cold!) I start to feel nostalgic for the slightly nippy but sunny days of autumn when our weekend exploring took us off to Edinburgh’s seaside, on a lovely local walk and a one day road trip up the coast. Here are the highlights.
Roslin Glen Walk
We walked a variation of this walk which started and ended at Rosslyn Chapel car park
The autumnal view from Bilston viaduct
Lush fields along the North Esk river
Rosslyn Chapel - made famous as the location of the film adaptation of The Da Vinci Code
Portobello Beach
I love the contrast of natural and urban at Edinburgh's local seaside Portobello
Looking back on the incredible sea fog which made driving over the Forth road bridge rather hair raising!
The beautiful Lower Largo
The harbour at Anstruther
Anstruther's famous fish bar
Definitely the last time I eat outside this year! The cup of tea helped to keep the shivers at bay
Autumn in Edinburgh has been a blast. The sun is still peeping its head out of the clouds now and then here and I am looking forward to crisp, snowy winter days but it will be so lovely to spend a couple of days in a warm clime before really battening down the hatches for a Scottish winter. Malta here we come!
